What lens to take out with you on your expedition. There are many different options, each one presenting a variety of possibilities. Ask yourself the following questions: What sort of image do I want, for example a portrait, close up, or long range? is a zoom lens suitable for taking pictures of the family? Probably not, and in the same way a portrait lens will find it difficult to capture the whole scene, for example an entire building and the sky. Space is another factor, do you want to be carting all sorts of lens around, changing constantly, or are you happy to work around a minimal set up. Restricting yourself can present the challenge or getting more creative. For example, if you have a tele photo lens, it may be difficult but not impossible to capture flowers. You will just have to change your perspective and might end up with something highly original. So get creative.
